Rhode Island Hockey Update !

The Burrillville Broncos Boys Hockey division I team captured their 23rd overall championship with a two game sweep of Cumberland the regular season division winner last night at Brown's Meehan Rink. 5-1 the final after a 3-0 victory Saturday night. Goalie Bryan McConnell made 24 saves and lost the second shutout with 30 seconds to go. He was named the MVP for his Burrillville Broncos. Riley Tupper scored a hat trick (3) goals and also had scores from Tom Libby and Kyle Pelletier. Captain Chad Stone added two more assists and received the most attention from Cumberland trying to shadow him. The 2015 Burrillville High School Football team also won their State championship this year for our Town.

The North Smithfield boys hockey team captured their division II State championship last night at Brown's Meehan Rink with a 3-1 victory over South Kingston. Again a red hot goaler proved to be the difference with Mark Pasquariello turning away 32 shots after turning away 28 on Saturday night. The three scores for North Smithfield were from Tom Mowry, Zack Walker and Noah Menard

Earlier last weekend LaSalle captured the State's highest division championship in 38 years with a win over Bishop Hendricken. Mount St. Charles was not in the final with a big rebuilding year.

Providence hosted the NCAA Tournament and the PC Friars a real long shot scored two wins to advance to the final 4 against Omaha University in Boston.

The Boston Bruins turned it around with two wins over the New York Rangers and the Carolina franchise




this weekend and now have a three point advantage for the 8th and final spot to earn a chance for the NHL Stanley Cup.
