Burrillville 6 and Barrington 1 in Semi-Final Division 1 R.I. Schoolboy Hockey

Game two at Levy Rink in Harrisville, R.I. featured the home team Broncos not taking on the expected Prout High school who got knocked off in the first round but Barrington High. The broncos had a first round bye by claiming second place with a 15-3 regular season record behind a very good Cumberland,R.I. hockey team at 17-1 and the only loss to the Broncos.
The top scorer for the Broncos and team captain # 20 Chad Stone, a three generation Burrillville Bronco (Skippy, Jeff) male family member got injured at about the two minute mark in his right leg. The crowd was all watching to see how serious the injury was and he went to the rear of the bench area for treatment and then showed great leadership by going back out short shift and slight limp to keep the leg loose.
The starting 5 for the home team Broncos honored # 20 forward Captain Chad Stone, #11 forward  Tyler Kearney, and #16 forward Riley Tupper . The defense paired starters were #18 Messier and #21 B. Robinson and the goalie starting was #00 W. Robinson who posted a sparkling goals against average of 1.43 and a save 0.928 %
Burrillville scored in the first period when at 13:01 #18 Messier scored on a tip-in from a blast from the point from defenseman #3 Nick Koprusak. The first of Nick's three point night and my second star selection for the soon to be lop sided contest.
Second period at 5:04 #20 Chad Stone extended the lead to two zip with a classic one timer from a pure goal scorer.Assists to #11 Tyler Kearney and again #3 Nick Koprusak. Come to think of it ,Nick's grandfather Jack and his dad also starred for the Broncos.
Chad Stone found his groove and scored number two at 10:16 to make it 3-0 zip. Barrington then closed the gap to 3-1 when #2 Steve Paras shot a 50 footer , 4 foot high that seemed to fool Bronco goaler Robinson.
The lead was restored to three goals when the Broncos #24 P.McConnell scored with #11 Tyler Kearney earning the only assist. #6 Bronco Bianco made it 5-1 with his first goal and the assist went to #24 McConnell.
Captain # Chad Stone completed the scoring with his three goal hat trick night with line mate #16 Riley Tupper earning the assist. This lop-sided contest ended with the Burrillville Broncos out shooting the Barrington team by a 30-11 advantage. Game two is Sat. 3-21-15 at Lynch Arena, Pawtucket at 7:15pm and should be over. First Star * Burr. # 20 Chad Stone, 2nd Star * #3 Nick Koprusak and 3rd Star * #11 Tyler Kearney

On Sat March 21, Burrillville 7, Barrington 2 to move on to the championship series against Cumberland , regular season division winner next week end. Should be a good one . Cumberland's only loss this season was to the Bronco's.

#20 Captain Chad Stone reminds me of Edmonton Oilers #17 Jari Kurri , 5 time Stanley Cup winner with 1043 points in 754 career games and scored on 22% of his career shots !
