New Hours: In order to make the library's hours more consistent and provide morning programs on Thursdays, the new hours are as follows: Monday - Thursday 10am to 8pm and Friday - Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Jesse Smith Library has many programs for the whole family that include book clubs, story times, Trivial Pursuit games, knitting group, Lego club, and special events. Check out their online newsletter for information about all of their programs.

The Pascoag Public Library has now returned to winter hours. The hours will be as follows: Monday 1pm-8pm, Tuesday closed, Wednesday and Thursday 10am-12pm and 3pm-6pm, Friday 1pm-6pm, Satruday 9am-1pm, Sunday closed.

9th Annual Green Festival
Burrillville's Parks and Recreation Depatment and Pascoag Utility District are teaming up to hold the 9th Annual Green Festival on Saturday September 19, 2015 from 10am to 2pm at the Stillwater Mill Center, Tinkham Lane, Harrisville, RI 02830. The event is free and open to the public. Learn about local products and ideas to create a more sustainable lifestyle. Enjoy free workshops as well as crafts and face painting for kids. Lunch, snacks and ice cream will be available as well as musician Jimmy Joel performing music from the 60's and 70's. Click here to see flyer.

Federal HUD funds are currently still available through the Town of Burrillville's Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program. Applicants must be income eligible to qualify for assistance through this program. Owner occupied rental apartments are also eligible if at least 51% of the home is occupied by low to moderate income individuals. Follow this link for more detals and income guidlelines.

Spay-Neuter Clinic for Cats
In conjunction with the Salmon River Veterinary Services, Burrillville Animal Control is coordinating a spay-neuter clinic for cats. It will take place on Thursday, September 24 and Thursday October 22, 2015. The cost is $75.00 cash per spay or neuter and includes rabies and distemper vaccines and ear mite treatment if needed. De-worming is available for an additional $5.00. You must pre-register by calling Salmon River Veterinary Services at 401-793-0092 or register on line at www.rimobilevet.com. 2nd Annual Burrillville Arts Festival

Once again the Burrillville Arts Festival is coming to town! This event will run Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, 2015 from 10am to 5pm both days. There will be over 90 vendors, crafters and artists. You may also enjoy a food court, entertainment and kids activities. See them on Facebook.

The growing season is still going strong!  Visit the market this week for a large selection of local products, like baked goods, eggs, honey, preserves and relishes, and produce.

The BFMA is trying to help EBT customers get more fresh veggies! They are going to be raffling off a handmade "quillow" whis is part pillow and quilt. When it is opened, it is a quilt with a built in pocket for your feet and when folded up it is a pillow for your couch.  Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will benefit EBT customers. For every $5.00 customers purchase in EBT coins, the market will give them an additional $2.00 in coins to be spent at the market. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the market for $1.00 each on September 12, 19, and 26th which is the last official day of the market.

September is National Voter Registration month! Are you registered to vote? The right to vote is the most important right granted to our citizens. It is the foundation of our democratic process, yet it is a right that is often taken for granted. The Secretary of State is focusing on increasing voter education and participation in Rhode Island. Legislation has been introduced to enable online voter registration and improving the state's voter rolls. During National Voter Registration month please take a moment to register to vote if you have not done so already. Encourage friends, family and co-workers to do so as well.
